All members of the Knox News All-PrepXtra boys basketball first team are nominees for the boys basketball player of the year.

Position: Guard

Why chosen: The 6-0 Furman signee was a finalist for the Class AAA Mr. Basketball award, averaging 23 points, five assists and three steals, and he led Maryville to the state tournament.

Why chosen: The 6-1 Alabama-Huntsville signee averaged more than 14 points and two assists and helped lead Webb to the Division II-A state semifinals.

Why chosen: The 6-3 guard was a finalist for Mr. Basketball in Division II-AA, averaging more than 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists and helped Catholic win its first state championship.

Why chosen: Hutchens, who's been at Catholic since 1989, led Catholic to a 25-4 record and to its first boys basketball state title, defeating defending champion Briarcrest in the DII-AA championship game.
