Emily “Duck” Higgins: Pitcher/First Base/Third Base

Higgins has been playing softball for 13 years, and has been a part of the Lady Trojans' program for four years. A team captain this season, she will continue her college career at Roane State in Harriman next season while studying business.

“Duck has had a strong stick in the lineup for the past four years,” said Nunley-Moore.

“She also has a strong presence on the field, and brings a passion and competitive drive in practice and on game day.”

“Off the field, she is outgoing and always trying to make the people around her laugh. She’s always watching out for those who are overlooked.”

Higgins has also been driving construction equipment since the age of four with her dad, who owns Higgins Construction. She plans on working with her dad while she attends college.

Alyx Howell: Outfield

A Lady Trojan for four years, Howell scored the game-winning run in the region championship as a freshman. She played volleyball as well for Soddy-Daisy, where she was named to the All-District team, as well as best all-around on the team.

Howell is a member of the National Honors Society and the Beta Club. She will be attending the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to major in nursing.

"The fact that she had no ambition to play softball at the next level makes her a model high school athlete," Nunley-Moore said. "She plays to support her school and her friends. She is an excellent student who focuses on her grades and future in college. She also takes great pride in her family and is very trustworthy."
