Austin-East football coach Jeff Phillips took to Twitter to announce his resignation on Monday afternoon.

He said that he is moving to Georgia, where he said he is being given a new opportunity.

In the video posted on his Twitter account, he thanked the administration and those around the program.

"I just want to thank you guys for all the support, past and present," Phillips said. "You guys mean the world to me for all the effort you guys put in."

Phillips, who graduated from Austin-East in 2003, was hired as the coach in 2013. In his seven years at the helm, he amassed a 52-33 overall record.

In 2016, he led the Roadrunners to the Class 2A State semifinals. Under his leadership, Austin-East only missed out on the postseason twice, in each of his first two years.

Seventeen of his total losses came in those first two years, as well. Austin-East has reached the Class 3A Quarterfinals each of the past three years.
