here. The Ooltewah tennis program has three seniors who have dedicated a combined 11 years to the Owls' tennis program. Katelyn Lee and Hope Clark have led the girls' team, while Chandler Cate is the lone senior on the boys' squad.

"They are all aggressive, competitive, and committed on the court," said Ooltewah coach Ken Buchanan.

"They have been a joy to coach."

Katelyn Lee

A four-year starter, Lee is the No. 1 singles and doubles player for the Lady Owls, has been captain for the past two seasons. and has been named to the All-County team. She has played tennis for nine years, and is also an instructor at the Kay McDaniel tennis clinics.

“Katelyn is a very dedicated, committed, aggressive, and competitive player,” said Buchanan. “She has worked continuously and hard on becoming the best tennis player she can be. She doesn’t let anything hold her back, including injuries, and she doesn’t make excuses. She’s also a strong supporter of her teammates.”

“She’s very personable and kind, doesn’t meet a stranger, and is committed to treating everyone fairly. She doesn’t get into the ‘drama’ scene, and is a definite leader.”

Lee will continue her tennis career at Johnson University, and will double major in elementary education and Bible and theology. To read her signing story click here.

Chandler Cate

Cate is also a four-year starter and the No. 1 singles and doubles player for the Owls' boys team. He will be attending Middle Tennessee State University and majoring in chemistry in the fall.

"Chandler is committed to improving his skill level and works hard to do so," Buchanan said. "He is very coachable and listens to and takes criticism well. He is good at adjusting his game to the individual he is playing."

"He is a team player and is always willing to help his teammates in any way possible, whether it be team-related or personal."

Hope Clark

Clark is a three-year starter and is the No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles player for the Lady Owls. She also plans to attend college in the fall.

"Hope definitely has her own style (ground strokes)," said Buchanan. "She is competitive, but also likes to have fun when she plays. She supports her team and is willing to do whatever is best for the team."

"She is also a hard worker and outgoing. She wants to have fun, but knows when it is time to be serious and take care of business."
