Briarcrest's Sydney Ham has been named Gatorade Tennessee girls soccer player of the year, the company announced Wednesday in a release.

The Ole Miss signee scored 28 goals and posted 11 assists, leading Briarcrest to the DII-AA state title with a 1-0 win over Father Ryan.

“Sydney was a machine for Briarcrest,” St. Agnes coach Bobby Ireland said in the release. “Her ability to change a game single-handedly was hard to deal with as an opposing coach. She was definitely the driving force for them.”

The past two winners of the award came from Houston — Arkansas forward Cara Young in 2019 and Ole Miss midfielder Jenna Kemp in 2018.

Ham is now a finalist for the Gatorade National girls soccer player of the year award which will be announced later this month.
