Patriots Down Lookout Valley On Brady Daniell’s Complete-Game One-Hitter

Brady Daniell and company spoiled Lookout Valley’s senior night on Friday with an 8-0 win.
Daniell was virtually untouchable, throwing an electric fastball and a devastating curve that left
batters lost.

The slender right-hander played with the lead all night as the Patriot bats stung quickly.

CSTHEA’s first six batters reached base to lead off the game, starting with a pair of singles that
set the table for designated hitter J.R. Zeimet. Zeimet promptly launched the first pitch he saw to
dead center, where a leaping try from Christian Chandler came up just shy of robbing the three-
run homer.

The Patriots loaded the bases again, but a double play got senior Jacob Winchester
out of the tumultuous first inning.

The Patriots went right back to work in the second, but this time without using the long ball.

Four singles scored three more Patriot runs, the first two coming by way of a Ben McBride
rocket into shallow left field. Cayden Grant emulated his fellow senior with a knock into center
that plated a run, and in a flash, the Patriots held a 6-0 lead.

“We’re teaching aggression from the very beginning,” said Patriot head coach Jonathan Daniell.

“Not having a home field, we’re always the away team and we get to hit first. We also have an
opportunity to score first and get on top first,” said Daniell.

Six runs were plenty for Daniell.

Daniell never seemed stressed, and he never gave himself a reason to. Allowing only a single hit,
Daniell fanned 12 and completed the game in just 85 pitches.

“He had a little bit of a tweak in his shoulder,” said Jonathan Daniell. “We got him a little bit of
treatment today and he was like, ‘I think I’m going to be totally fine to go all the way today,’ so
yeah, he was in a groove and threw it really well,” said Daniell.

Winchester settled down and quieted the Patriot bats in the middle innings, but with the lack of
run support, he was never a threat to the winners column. He made it into the fourth inning
where he was replaced by Wyatt Hulvey.

The power and run production came from the heart of the Patriot order with the three, four, and
five-hole hitters accounting for nine hits and five of the Patriot RBI’s. The Daniell duo, Bryce
and Brady, hit first and second respectively, and tallied three hits and four runs as tone-setters at
the top of the Patriot order.

The Patriots tacked on another pair of runs in the seventh inning when Daniel Kyle and Bryce
Daniel both scored via Yellowjacket errors. Between those errors though, there was a bright spot
for the Lookout Valley defense. On a sinking liner, Christian Chandler got retribution for his
near home run robbery when he stormed into shallow center and made the catch with a head-long dive.
The Patriots are among the hottest teams in Chattanooga, winners of 10 out of their last 13
contests.

“We aren’t that intimidated now, honestly,” said Daniell. “We’ve got some lower guys in the
order that are attacking the ball and they didn’t before. Sometimes you have a little bit of a fall-
off in the bottom of your order, but we’ve got guys who are putting the bat on the ball. It’s
encouraging,” said Daniell.

More early thump from the offense and pitching performances like the one Brady Daniell put on
Friday night will be the blueprint for the surging Pats as they look to finish the year strong.
