CHS Trojans Homecoming is Friday Night

Collinwood High School kicked off their Homecoming festivities this week, gearing up for the big game on Friday night, September 22 at Pat Brewer Stadium in Collinwood, TN. This year’s CHS Homecoming theme is “Trojan Family” to celebrate and honor 50 years of Trojan football and all of those who have contributed to the continuation of CHS’s long-standing history, traditions, and Trojan pride!

As part of their 50-year celebration, the CHS student-based Industry class is facilitating “Paint the Town.” Residents and businesses are encouraged to decorate their storefronts and yards to show their Trojan Pride during Homecoming Week. CHS cheerleaders and Student Council “Decked the Halls with Trojan Spirit” to kick off a fun-filled week for CHS students. This busy and competitive week includes various activities for Collinwood students and faculty to showcase their school spirit and secure bragging rights for the rest of the year as the homecoming week winners.

Dress-up days include: Tuesday – Family Reunion, dress in your favorite holiday; Wednesday – Family Vacation, dress for your favorite family vacation destination; Thursday – Family Feud Field Day, wear class colors for class v. class games; Friday – Family Rewind, Dress in new and old Trojan attire.

Friday, September 22nd, at 4 p.m., a CHS Homecoming Parade will make its way from the recreation building through the heart of town and end at CHS. Each graduating class will construct family-themed parade floats that will be judged, driven in the Homecoming Parade, and displayed in front of CHS during the game! The featured themes include Family Feud, Family Game Night, Family Tree, and Family Reunion. Many other organizations will also be participating in the parade, including the 2023 Homecoming Court, the Past, Present, and Future Collinwood Cheerleaders, the 2023 Football Team, the CHS Marching Band, The 2023 Homecoming King, and Collinwood Volleyball. If you want to participate in the CHS Homecoming parade, call the CHS front office to sign up!

Students will decorate banners that embody “Trojan Spirit” and display them on the hillside next to the field for the game. The spirit banners will be judged to determine which class wins this competition.

Graduating classes will put their own creative spin on a classic and remix the CHS Alma Mater. Remixes will be performed at the homecoming pep rally and football game if time permits.

The CHS Homecoming pep rally will be held at 9 a.m. on the football field. CES and CMS will be in attendance. The CHS Cheerleaders will lead games and other spirit activities to get everyone involved and fired up for those Friday Night Lights at Pat Brewer Stadium!

This year, CHS held its second annual Homecoming King Competition. A candidate from each grade campaigned and raised money by selling concessions at CHS. The candidate that sold the most and secured his crown was freshman candidate Bennett Rich! The other candidates were Senior Alex Newborn, Junior Tripp Robertson (2022 HoCo King), and Sophomore Patch Craig. Thanks to their hard work, CHS made a $625 donation to the Butterfly Foundation.

Everyone is invited to join the Collinwood community for tailgating at 5 p.m. in front of the stadium, CHS Cheer Spirit Line at 6:45 p.m. down on the field, and the Homecoming Game KICK OFF at 7 p.m.! The CHS Homecoming Ceremony will take place at halftime. The CHS Marching Band will perform after the game; all are encouraged to stay and enjoy the show. Special acknowledgment will be given to celebrate 50 years of Collinwood High School Football. Andy Hindman, CHS Football’s first Head Coach, will recognize CHS Trojan Alumni and host a 50th Season Legacy Breakfast.

Homecoming princesses are nominated and voted on by their graduating classes. Faculty nominate the senior court, and the CHS student body votes on the queen.

Freshman Princess – Claire Scott. Claire is the daughter of Shane and Christy Scott. She will be escorted by Shyston Rideout. Shyston is the son of Tyler and Shiloh Rideout. Claire is a member of CHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Softball, Volleyball, and Bass Team.

Sophomore Princess – Tevy Statom. Tevy is the daughter of Mark and Lindsay Statom. Tevy will be escorted by Patch Craig. Patch is the son of Russell and Wendy Craig. Tevy is Secretary of the Sophomore Class and is a member of CHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes, HOSA, Beta Club, Junior Civitan, Leaders in Action, Girls Basketball, and Softball.

Junior Princess – Tessa Statom. Tessa is the daughter of Mark and Lindsay Statom. She will be escorted by Tripp Robertson. Tripp is the son of Kevin and Bethany Robertson. Tessa is Treasurer of the Junior Class and a member of CHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes, HOSA, Beta Club, Junior Civitan, Leaders in Action, Talent Search, Volleyball, Girls Basketball, and Softball.

Senior Court – Danlee Bray.  Danlee is the daughter of John Bray and the late Jennifer Bray. Danlee will be escorted by her father, John Bray. Danlee is a member of CHS Talent Search, Beta Club, Junior Civitan, Leaders in Action, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Girls Basketball. She was also voted Most Popular by her Senior Class. Danlee plans to attend college and pursue a career as a Physical Therapy Assistant.

Haylee Dodd. Haylee is the daughter of Keith and Lawanda Dodd. Haylee will be escorted by her father, Keith Dodd. Haylee was voted Class Secretary and Most Courteous by her Senior Class. She was a Girls’ State Nominee and is a member of CHS Junior Civitan, Leaders in Action, Beta Club, Talent Search, Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and is a Basketball Manager for the Trojanettes. Haylee plans to attend the University of North Alabama and pursue a career as an occupational therapist.

Janie Hernandez. Janie is the daughter of Pedro Soto and Alicia Juarez. Janie will be escorted by her father, Pedro Soto. Janie was voted Most Athletic by her senior class and is a member of CHS Leaders in Action, Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Girls Basketball, and Wayne County Soccer. Janie plans to attend Bethel University and pursue a career in elementary education.

Joleigh Linville. Joleigh is the daughter of Susan and the late Jody Linville. Joleigh will be escorted by her brother, Tate Linville. Joleigh was voted Class President and Best All Around by her Senior Class. She was a Girls’ State attendee and is a member of the CHS Beta Club (President), Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Junior Civitan (President), Leaders in Action, Talent Search, and is a Captain of the CHS Cheerleading Squad. Joleigh plans to attend The University of Tennessee at Knoxville and pursue a career in pediatric occupational therapy.

Katie Lee Morris. Katie is the daughter of Chris and Sarah Morris. Katie will be escorted by her father, Chris Morris. She was voted Most School Spirit by her Senior Class, was a Girls’ State attendee, is a member of CHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Beta Club, Junior Civitan, FFA, Leaders in Action, and is a Captain of the CHS Cheerleading Squad. Katie plans to attend The University of Tennessee at Martin and pursue a career in elementary education.

Hannah Risner.  Hannah is the daughter of Mark and Lindsay Statom. Hannah will be escorted by her father, Mark Statom. She was voted Most Dependable by her Senior Class and is a member of CHS Talent Search, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Girls’ Basketball. Hannah Plans to attend college at either UT Southern or Bethel University and pursue a career as a Pediatric Nurse.
