Tiger

Last week featured a win and a loss for the Fayetteville Lady Tigers. They beat the Forrest Lady Rockets Tuesday night and lost at Cascade Friday night. Forrest made the trip to Tiger Hill and ran up against a brick wall. City’s defense played firm from start to finish, allowing just 13 points in the first half. Fayetteville’s offense managed to score that in the first quarter and the Lady Tigers led 18-13 at halftime. The third quarter saw both teams score eight points each, then City busted loose in the final eight minutes. Fayetteville outscored Forrest 21-12 in the fourth quarter to win the game 47- 33. Te’Asia Ewing led the Lady Tigers with 17 points. She did over half of her scoring in the fourth quarter hitting three three-pointers. Trinity Dixon scored 13 and Elly Bain 11. Next came a bus trip to visit the Cascade Lady Champions. The game was close for the full 32 minutes of game clock. City started out with the advantage, 18-13, after the first quarter and 27-23 at the half. Cascade came alive in the third quarter, outscoring Fayetteville 15-9 to take a two-point lead into the final frame. Cascade finished the job by a narrow margin 57-52. The Lady Champions had plus-5 advantage in free throws made, proving to be the difference maker. This time it was Kayden Parks who led the Lady Tigers with 17 points, 11 of which came in the first quarter. Bain scored a dozen and Dixon 11. Fayetteville enters this week at 4-4. This week’s slate shows two games, both to be played on the road. Tuesday night is at Giles County. Then Friday night is at Columbia Academy.
