I'm Kavion Benton: Here's why I signed with Memphis football

For The Commercial Appeal

The Commercial Appeal asked Southwind senior Kavion Benton to say in his own words why he chose Memphis.

Here is what Benton wrote to The Commercial Appeal:

I signed to the University of Memphis because there’s no love like the hometown love! The coaches showed great hospitality in this whole process and I believe in them, they believe in me.

The Memphis football program is about to take off and be on a whole different level, I really just wanted to be apart of the come up of my hometown. I believe that The University of Memphis, Coach (Ryan) Silverfield and Coach (Kyle) Pope can help me exceed my goals I have on and off the field.

Memphis' locker room is also special, filled with great men I can look up to. It’s a real brotherhood and family at the U of M. Going there, I know everybody has my back and I got theirs. Me signing with Memphis means my family, coaches and friends can come to a home game on any given Saturday.

Memphis checked off everything on my list so, WHY NOT MEMPHIS!
