Junior Colson at Ravenwood High

Days after winning a national championship at the University of Michigan, former Ravenwood High linebacker Junior Colson has declared himself eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft, per ESPN.

The 6-3, 247-pound Colson played a central role in helping the undefeated Wolverines (15-0) to the title this year, as he led the team with 95 tackles — 30 more than the second-highest total on the team. He was named second-team Big 10 by coaches and media.

Colson added two tackles for loss, two pass breakups and two quarterback hits.

A native of Haiti, Colson posted a season-high 11 tackles in Michigan’s win over Ohio State in November, and he added 10 tackles in the Wolverines’ College Football Playoff semifinal win over Alabama. Colson finished with six tackles in the 34-13 championship win over Washington.

In December, he won the Lott IMPACT Trophy, given to the college football player who makes an impact on and off the field.

Two other Ravenwood alums, linebacker Trevor Andrews and defensive back Myles Pollard, also played for Michigan this year.

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper ranks Colson as the No. 3 linebacker available in the draft, while colleague Field Yates ranks him second. The NFL Draft will be held April 25-27 in Detroit.
