615 Preps Girls Basketball Rankings: Cheatham County wins 15th straight game

1 0

Postseason play is here and while most of the area’s top teams have been able to take care of business, the same can’t be said for a few others.

With a wide-variety of results so far, there’s been quite a few changes in this week’s large and small class girls basketball rankings.

Large Class teams include 4A, 3A, and Division II-AA. Small Class teams include 2A, 1A, and Division II-A.

Rankings are based on overall success current form for each teams. While teams may have beaten each other earlier in the season, we look at the current form of teams compared to each other.

With that in mind, here’s a look at this week’s 615 Preps large and small class girls rankings:

Large Class

1. Clarksville (26-0): Lead by 20 points from Miss Basketball finalist Imari Berry, the Lady Wildcats had three different players finish with more points than Kirkwood en route to a dominant 62-15 win.

2. Hillsboro (19-4): There wasn’t much standing in the way of the Lady Burros en route to the District 11-4A title. They opened up play beating Overton 64-37 and closed it with a 52-32 win over Cane Ridge.

3. Lebanon (22-7): Stewarts Creek gave the Devilettes all they could handle in their District 7-4A semifinals matchup. Lebanon was able to hold on in the end for a 44-40 victory.

4. Page (21-7): Franklin and Centennial didn’t pose much of a threat to the Lady Patriots early in the week. However, Indy tested them in the District 10-4A semifinals with Page pulling out a narrow 39-35 win.

5. Sycamore (21-6): Beating Montgomery Central 71-19, the Lady War Eagles set up a third meeting against Creek Wood for the District 11-3A championship. In another close game between the two schools, Sycamore once again got the win against the Lady Red Hawks beating them 36-35.

10. Central Magnet (21-9)

Small Class

1. Cheatham County (26-2): Winning is all the Lady Cubs have done for a few months now and that didn’t change last week. East Hickman’s come the closest to ending Cheatham’s current streak and came close against but ultimately came up seven points short in the District 11-2A title game.

2. Goodpasture (23-3): The Lady Cougars proved that they should be considered a favorite in DII-A this season winning the DII-A Middle Region title. Most impressively, they did so in dominant fashion beating GCA 64-31, FRA 48-39 and PCA 67-57.

3. PCA (22-5): The Lady Lions still look like a favorite in DII-A but stumbled in their region title meeting against Goodpasture. Prior to that, they beat Nashville Christian 38-31 and Ezell-Harding 50-35.

4. Cannon County (23-5): District opponents haven’t posed much of a threat to the Lionettes this season and that continued in the District 9-2A tournament. Cannon County beat Grundy County 62-26 and Cascade 52-36 en route to the championship.

5. East Nashville (18-3): Only one district opponent has scored more than 20 points against the Lady Eagles this season going into their matchup with RePublic last Wednesday. That number stayed at one as East Nashville cruied to a 68-11 win.
