Memphis-area girls basketball: Bartlett, Whitehaven remain top two teams in rankings

The TSSAA girls basketball playoffs continue this week with region semifinals and championship games. Here are is this week's girls basketball Memphis-area rankings.

1. Bartlett (25-10): Akya Woods scored 12 points, helping the Panthers defeat White Station 75-20 in the Region 8-4A quarterfinals last week to help them win their seventh straight game. Last week’s ranking: No. 1.  

2. Whitehaven (22-5): Tierney Kelsey scored 25 points in the Tigers’ 60-17 win over Arlington to advance to the Region 8-4A semifinals. Last week's ranking: No. 2.

3. Hutchison (22-3): The Sting’s season ended in the Division II-A quarterfinals in a 48-33 loss to Knoxville Webb. Last week’s ranking: No. 3.  

4. Memphis East (23-6): The Mustangs reached the Region 8-4A semifinals after defeating Houston 46-40 in the quarterfinals on Friday. Last week’s ranking: No. 4. 

5. Collierville (24-9): Hilary Shikuku scored 15 points as the Dragons defeated Memphis Central 63-44 in the Region 8-4A quarterfinals on Friday. Last week’s ranking: No. 5.  

6. Middle College (27-2): The Bulldogs are on a 14-game win streak and will play MASE in the Region 8-1A quarterfinals this week. Last week’s ranking: No. 6. 

7. Houston (19-11): Anna Lee Avery scored 17 points in helping the Mustangs beat Arlington, but they lost to Memphis East in the Region 8-4A quarterfinals to be eliminated from the TSSAA playoffs. Last week’s ranking: No. 7. 

8. Olive Branch (17-13): The Conquistadors lost to Neshoba County in the Mississippi High School Activities Association playoffs in the quarterfinals, 69-43 last week. Last week’s ranking: No. 8.

9. Hernando (21-6): Jaliyah Kelly scored 26 points, but the Tigers were eliminated in the first round of the MHSAA playoffs on Feb. 16. Last week’s ranking: No. 9. 

10. Lewisburg (20-9): Akevia Kimble scored 14 points in the Patriots’ 49-44 loss to Madison Central in the first round of the MHSAA playoffs on Feb. 16. Last week’s ranking: No. 10.
