Brentwood Academy is bringing in a six-time high school volleyball state championship coach.

Former Goodpasture and Ezell-Harding coach Lynn Dearing was named Brentwood Academy's volleyball coach Monday, replacing Shari Christenson, according to the school's social media post on the X platform.

Dearing spent one season at Ezell-Harding. The Eagles were 5-14 last fall.

Dearing spent 26 years as an administrator, coach and teacher at Goodpasture. She led the school’s volleyball team to six TSSAA state titles, including five straight (2012-16), three state runner-up finishes and an 802-225 overall record. The program also won 16 district championships and 14 region titles during her tenure. Her last state title with Goodpasture came in 2020.

She also coached Goodpasture's girls basketball team, serving two stints as the Lady Cougars coach from 2001-2005 and 2014-2017.

She takes over a Brentwood Academy program that has only five state tournament appearances and hasn't been to the state tournament since 2017.
