The Franklin County High School boys soccer team played the Cumberland County Jets to a 1-1 draw on the road Monday for the team's first tie of the season.
All of the scoring was done in the first half of the evenly matched contest with the teams settling for a draw after being unable to find a go-ahead score.
The Jets were the first team on the board as they capitalized off of a mistake from Franklin County to fire a shot into the net.
Franklin County put pressure on the opposing goal throughout most of the first half with Cason Eslick and Kevin Hernandez leading the offensive charge.
Franklin County was awarded a penalty pick midway through the first half when Hernandez was fouled inside of the goal box, and Hernandez nailed the ensuing attempt to tie the score. It was his sixth goal of the season.
The score was tied at 1-1 at halftime.
Both teams created chances to score throughout the second half, but the tie remained unbroken for the rest of the day as the contest ended in a draw.
With the draw, Franklin County moved to 1-0-1 on the season.
The boys soccer team will next play Thursday against McGill-Toolen Catholic High School at Rocky Top Sports World in Gatlinburg in a game for the Smoky Mountain Cup. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:10 p.m.
