JONESBOROUGH — David Crockett’s first baseball victory of the season was a memorable one.
The Pioneers scored five runs to grab the lead in the second inning and never relinquished it, defeating Greeneville 10-6 Monday night.
Ayden Mullikin's RBI single broke a 3-3 tie, and Jake Fox made it 6-3 with his two-run double. Ronnie Hall and Mason Grindstaff provided insurance from there with RBI singles.
Hall, Mullikin, Fox and A.J. Ford all finished with two hits. Connor Hendrix got the start and struck out two over the first three innings, before Mullikin fanned three over the final four frames.
Will Harmon’s two-run homer got Greeneville within 6-5, but the Devils couldn’t catch up. Kobe Mundy and Colton Richards both doubled.
Unicoi County 5, Elizabethton 2
ERWIN — Chris Chavez went six innings and struck out 11 batters, giving up just two earned runs on three hits for the Blue Devils. Kaden Cutlip then retired three straight batters in the seventh to get the save.
Caleb Murr went 2-for-3 to lead Unicoi County. He and Chavez both hit RBI singles in the third to help break a 1-1 tie and give the home team a 4-1 lead.
Bryson Rowland and Brayden Buckles both doubled for the Cyclones.
Hampton 8, Johnson County 7
MOUNTAIN CITY — Trailing 6-2 after six innings, Hampton rallied with six runs in the top of the seventh before holding on to beat its district rival. Three consecutive errors and two bases-loaded walks helped the Bulldogs pull even, before Gabriel Lyons hit a two-run single. Jayden Kuhn, who recorded all 21 outs to get the win, ended the game with his seventh strikeout.
Lyons went 2-for-4 to lead the offense while Noah Nichols, Chance Point and Kuhn all doubled.
Kayden Blevins went 2-for-4 and scored twice for the Longhorns, with Ezra Howard hitting a double. Carson Jennings struck out 11 over his six innings on the mound before reaching the limit.
Providence Academy 9, CAK 6 (Game 1)
JEFFERSON CITY — Tine Bowman hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning after his RBI double in the third, driving in four runs to help Providence Academy take Monday’s opener at Carson-Newman’s Silver Diamond Baseball Complex.
Josh Owens went 2-for-4 with a solo home run himself, while Merritt Runnels hit 2-for-2 and scored two runs. Nathan Eisfelder and Drew Niebauer both doubled for the Knights (4-3, 1-1 Division II District 1-1A), who got four strikeouts over six innings from winning pitcher Aidan Sproles.
Wesley Alig went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and finished a triple shy of the cycle for CAK.
CAK 7, Providence Academy 2 (Game 2)
JEFFERSON CITY — Drew Niebauer (2-for-2) and Josh Owens both doubled in the nightcap, but a six-run third inning proved enough for the Warriors.
Parker Jones hit 3-for-3, and Wesley Alig doubled twice in the win.
Chuckey-Doak 5, Happy Valley 4
ELIZABETHTON — Christian Derry hit a leadoff double in the seventh inning, and his courtesy runner Dom Atchinson scored the winning run on a one-out fielder’s choice. Derry, who struck out three straight batters to end the game, hit 3-for-4 with a double to lead the offense, while Jake Hinkle went 2-for-2.
Trailing 4-0 in the sixth, Happy Valley pulled even on Drew Blevins’ one-out grand slam.
Cherokee 24, Claiborne 1
NEW TAZEWELL — Cherokee pounded out 22 hits, seven going for extra bases, in Monday’s District 2-3A contest. Cole Putnal and Mason Emery both doubled and finished 3-for-3 at the plate, while Parker Travis (double) and Noah Hunter each had two hits.
Jake Elliott’s grand slam capped Cherokee’s 10-run third inning. Gavin Housewright, Charles Wagoner and Sawyer Housewright all doubled for the Chiefs.
Starting pitcher Manning Brooks and Wagoner both struck out four batters in the five-inning effort.

Daniel Boone 11, Sullivan East 0
GRAY — The Lady Trailblazers started their season with a five-inning victory Monday night. Kaylea Osborne got the win in the circle, striking out six batters and allowing only one hit and one walk.
Ava Saul went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored to lead the offense. Anna Richardson hit 3-for-3 with an RBI herself, while Kyleigh Bacon and Riley Croley both doubled.
Elizabethton 12, Gate City (Va.) 1
ELIZABETHTON — Lela Byrd’s two-run homer jumpstarted the Lady Cyclones in the first inning. Mikinna Blackwell and Sadie Williams went yard in the third and fourth innings respectively. Leadoff batter Mollie Johnson hit 3-for-4 to lead the offense.
Byrd also got the win in the circle, striking out seven and allowing one run on one hit with just two walks.
Makayla Bays hit a solo home run for the Lady Blue Devils, who finished with three hits.
Unaka 19, University High 4
ELIZABETHTON — Mollie Buckles (two doubles) and Jill Faust (triple) both hit 3-for-3 to lead the Unaka offense, which totaled 13 hits and pushed across 13 runs in the second inning. Taylor Grindstaff and Alisha Harrell (double) had two hits apiece.
Gracie Stout got the win, striking out one while allowing four earned runs on eight hits.
Avery Nelson and Kyrsten Reed both went 2-for-2 to lead the Buccaneers, Reed batting in three runs while Nelson scored twice.
Avery County (N.C.) 13, Hampton 10
HAMPTON — Emily Brigman hit 4-for-5 with a home run to spearhead Avery County’s offensive output, as the visitors outhit Hampton 17-13.
Mallory Lamb doubled twice and hit 4-for-4 to lead the Lady Bulldogs, batting in two runs and scoring two more. Briley Davis tripled and finished 3-for-4, and Lacey Smith went 2-for-4 with a double.
Tennessee High 19, Cherokee 0
ROGERSVILLE — Carly Compton fired a three-inning no-hitter for the Lady Vikings, striking out eight and walking just one while also hitting 2-for-3 with a double.
Madeline Ratliff (2-for-2) clubbed a two-run home run in the win. Addie Wilhoit and Maddisyn Hall both hit 3-for-4 with a double, and Abigail Haga doubled twice. Lily Ware and Macie Strouth each had two hits.
