NEWPORT — After three seasons leading the Cocke County volleyball team, Heather Williams has resigned her post to spend more time with her family.

“I have three kids who are very involved in sports,” said Williams in a text to The Newport Plain Talk. “Coaching takes a large amount of dedication. I feel like I’m disappointing someone, whether it is my kids or the players, if I don’t step down. I don’t know if there’s a right time, but I knew this was something I had to do for my family.”
