The Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles fell to the Tullahoma Wildcats on the road on Tuesday, 5-4, after eight innings. 

Tullahoma took a 3-0 lead after the first two innings while starting pitcher Baylan Tuten kept Shelbyville hitters at bay. The Wildcats would add their fourth run in the fourth inning, but then the Golden Eagles’ bats began to find some rhythm, thanks in part to the lone Tullahoma error on the night.

Shelbyville cut the lead in half, 4-2, going into the home half of the fifth, and after starting pitcher Palmer Edwards posted a pair of zeros, the Golden Eagles went into the top of the seventh still needing two runs to tie. Fortunately for the hosts, Tuten was off the mound after six dominant innings that saw him concede only three hits and one earned run with only one walk while striking out 12. 

Carston Williams (22) went 2-2 with a pair of RBIs at Tullahoma.

Mason Bratcher came on to try and record the save, but Shelbyville’s never-say-die attitude came through yet again with two runs in the top of the seventh. After Michael Estrada posted a zero in the home half of the seventh, the game went into extras. 

Unfortunately for Shelbyville, after being unable to push across a run in the top of the eighth, Tullahoma walked it off after loading the bases with three walks in the home half to win, 5-4. 

Edwards went six complete innings on the mound for Shelbyville, posting seven strikeouts to only one walk while allowing only three hits and zero earned runs. Carston Williams went 2-2 at the plate, driving in 2 runs. 

The Golden Eagles fall to 2-5 on the season, but they look to bounce back on Thursday at home against the Forrest Rockets.
