NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A bill moving through the Tennessee General Assembly could indicate a play at potentially bringing a Super Bowl game to Nashville.

The bill, SB 2093, aims to establish an official policy for the maintenance of records by the Department of Tourist Development.

Sponsored by Senator Jack Johnson, R-Franklin, this bill would block the public from accessing certain department records for up to a decade. According to Brandon Puttbrese, press secretary for the Tennessee Democratic Caucus, the legislation “would give the tourism commissioner wide latitude to keep documents confidential – perhaps for a run at the National Football League’s Super Bowl.”

So far, it has passed on first consideration in the House on March 4 and was recommended for passage with amendments in the Senate on March 19.

The new Nissan stadium will be built on the east side of the current stadium campus, along Nashville’s East Bank. Features of the building include a circular translucent roof; exterior porches with panoramic views of Nashville; improved sightlines; and a 12,000-square-foot community space available for use year-round, the Titans said.

It’s expected to be completed in 2027.
