Franklin County's Graysen McNeese swings at a pitch in this file photo from earlier in the season. McNeese hit a double for the Rebels Monday in their 3-0 loss at Tullahoma High School.
The Franklin County Rebels lost to the Tullahoma Wildcats 3-0 on the road Monday for their seventh loss of the season.
The Rebels fell behind early in the district matchup and weren’t able to break through for a score as they took a shutout defeat.
The Wildcats scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to quickly put the Rebels behind for the day.
Graysen McNeese led off the top of the second with a double to put himself in scoring position, and Gavin McBee and Jacob Hardison reached base via a walk and getting hit by a pitch, respectively, to load the bases with one out.
However, a double play neutralized the scoring threat and kept Franklin County off the scoreboard.
The Rebels didn’t get another runner into scoring position until the top of the sixth when Gus Gardner drew a walk and moved to second on a groundout by McNeese, but Gardner would be tagged out at third base on a fielder’s-choice groundball off the bat of Brayden Henley.
The Wildcats then added another run in the bottom half of the sixth to make it a three-run game going into the final inning.
Taylor Austin drew a one-out walk in the top of the seventh to put the potential tying run on deck, but the Rebels weren’t able to produce any other baserunners for the frame as they lost by three.
Sam Vincent pitched a complete game for the Rebels with 10 strikeouts, five hits, two walks, two earned runs and one unearned run allowed.
With the loss, the Rebels moved to 2-7 on the season and 0-1 in district play.
They will next play Wednesday at home against Tullahoma High School. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
