Abby Flynt, from Lincoln County High School, had a big game against Daviess County out of Kentucky in Saturday’s Warrior Classic. Flynt ripped a grand slam in the first inning and singled in the fifth, scoring two runs. The ladies finished with the win, 11-6.
Lincoln County softball won six of their seven games last week, including two district games. The Lady Falcons defeated Columbia, 5-0, and Spring Hill, 10-4.
The week started Tuesday, March 19 at Columbia. The game was scoreless through four innings. Then senior Hallie Meeks blasted a two-run home run in the fifth to get Lincoln County on the board.
Senior Anna Owens drove in a run in the sixth inning followed by another two-run dinger from Meeks in the seventh. The run support allowed Mia Brown to pick the complete game win, delivering eight strikeouts in the shutout.
The next night was another bus trip, this time to Spring Hill. The game started out slow through the first five innings, with the Lady Falcons tallying the lone run of the game in the second inning.
Then Lincoln County busted loose in the sixth inning with five runs. Both teams scored four runs a piece in the seventh and the Lady Falcons prevailed with a plus-6 margin.
Freshmen Brinley Moran led Lincoln County’s offense, going 2-4 at the plate with four runs driven in. Junior Ava Harris needed just 88 pitches to throw a complete game.
In five games combined during Friday and Saturday, the only loss for Lincoln County was Carterville from Illinois. The Lady Falcons enter this week of their schedule at 9-2.
