Ollie Foy pitched out of trouble on the mound and caused opposing hurlers trouble with his bat as the Virginia High Bearcats earned a 5-1 baseball win over the Wise County Central Warriors on Saturday at Tennessee Smokies Stadium in Kodak, Tennessee.
Foy allowed just one run on 10 hits in five innings of work, while walking two and striking out one.
“Ollie did a great job getting through some hard situations our defense put him in,” said VHS coach Adam Moore. “Really proud of how he kept his composure.”
Foy also went 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
Luke Whitt was 2-for-3 and scored two runs and also got the save on the mound with two scoreless innings.
Bhraedon Meredith had a triple and two RBIs for VHS (2-4), which won its second straight contest.

Central (4-4) got three hits from Cayden Hayes. Jaron Wyatt and Shawn Phillips finished with three hits apiece.
“Was really proud of how our guys found a way to win against a good program,” Moore said. “Wise had some really good at-bats today.”

Sullivan East 9, Clay County (Ky. 2)

D.J. Carrier went 2-for-3, scored two runs and tallied two RBIs as Sullivan East beat Clay County and split a pair of games in Clinton, Tennessee.
Avery McCoy scored three runs in the triumph.
East fell behind 6-0 after one inning in getting overpowered by Anderson County.
Cherokee 9, Gate City 8
Cherokee raced out to leads of 8-0 and 9-2 and then the Chiefs had to hold off the Gate City Blue Devils for a win.
Dakoda McMurray (3-for-4, RBI), Luke Bledsoe (2-for-4, four RBIs) and Brayden Cox (2-for-4, two runs) led the way for Gate City.
Tazewell 4-6, Woodrow Wilson (W.Va.) 1-5
Luke Childress struck out 12 in spinning a four-hitter as the Tazewell Bulldogs won and split a doubleheader with the West Virginians.
Tyler Hash added two hits and Reece Mullins drove in two runs in the second game as Tazewell improved to 3-3.
