One game was all that took place last week for Lincoln County softball. The Lady Falcons capitalized on that lone opportunity with a district win over the Columbia Lady Lions, 6-3.
It was a home game for Lincoln County Thursday night with a black out theme. Both Lincoln County and Columbia dressed in their black uniforms.
Columbia entered seeking revenge after being shut out 5-0 earlier in the season by the Lady Falcons.
The evening was scoreless through the first three innings, but that all changed in the fourth when Columbia scored the game’s first run. Lincoln County quickly responded that same inning with back-to-back homeruns from Abby Flynt and Ava Harris to take the lead 2-1.
A triple and a throwing error made for a little league inside the park homerun for Columbia to re-take advantage 3-2 in the top of the fifth. The Lady Falcons responded immediately with four runs, including a two-run shot from Abby Flynt.
Lincoln County went on to win by three, improving their record to 16-5 overall, 4-0 in the district. The Lady Falcons are set for two home district games this week with Spring Hill and Coffee County.
