Tuesday Round-up: Rangers Win Wild Game On Road; Bulldogs, Cyclones Come Up Short

Tennessee High 5, Elizabethton 2
The Cyclones were unable to overcome a strong second inning by the Vikings on Tuesday.

After Tennessee High plated four runs in the top of the second, Elizabethton continued to battle. The Cyclones were able to plate a run in the bottom of the fourth and answer a TH run in the sixth. EHS, however, was unable to mount a rally.

Justin Whitehead went 2-for-2 at the plate, while JD Hooks added two hits. Logan Campbell had a hit and an RBI.
Rhett Slagle and Jack Blevins each added a hit.

On the mound, Slagle struck out five batters in six innings of work as he allowed just five unearned runs on four hits.

Whitehead struck out two batters in an inning of relief work.

Unaka 17, FCA Flames 15
The Rangers picked up a win in a wild game on the road Tuesday night.

Unaka plated seven runs in the top of the seventh to regain the lead and then held off the Flames in the home side of the frame to take the win in a game that saw seven lead changes.

Logan Lewis had three hits and three RBI, while Jacob Nidiffer tallied two hits and three RBI. Robert Humphrey added three hits and two RBI for the Rangers.

James Davison added two RBI, and Connor Vines and Rylan Crabtree added two hits and a RBI apiece.

Lewis picked up the win on the mound as he struck out nine batters on the mound, while Cam Prince secured the win in the final inning.

West Greene 4, Hampton 0
The Bulldogs came up short in a pitching duel on Tuesday.

West Greene jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first and added single runs in the third and fourth. Hampton kept on battling but was unable to push a run across the plate.

Jayden Kuhn had two hits for the Bulldogs, while Elisha Henson and Landon Buchanan each added a hit apiece.

As a team, Hampton outhit West Greene 4-2.

Chance Point was handed the loss on the mound as he allowed just three earned runs on two hits with four strikeouts. In relief work, Kuhn struck out four and allowed no hits in two innings of work.

South Greene 11, Happy Valley 1
The Warriors were unable to overcome a slow start on Tuesday.
South Greene jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and limited HV to take the win.

Dakota Grindstaff, Tucker Shoun, Lane Parker, Cade Kendall, and Grady Goulds each had a hit.

Softball
David Crockett 12, Elizabethton 0
The Lady Cyclones came up short on Tuesday afternoon against a methodical Lady Pioneers squad.

Mollie Johnson went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead EHS, while Emma O’Quinn, Lela Byrd, Jozey Reece, and Mikinna Blackwell each added a hit.

West Greene 8, Hampton 6
West Greene 16, Hampton 6
The Lady Bulldogs dropped a pair of games on the road Tuesday.

In the first game, Hampton saw a rally come up short. The Lady Bulldogs plated three runs in the top of the fourth to cut into a 5-0 deficit. After West Greene answered with three runs,

Hampton scored three more in the top of the final inning but was unable to keep the run going.

Brooklyn Adams had two RBI, while Hannah Smith added an RBI and a hit for Hampton. In all, nine Hampton batters recorded a hit.

The second game saw West Greene jump out early and keep Hampton at bay.

Lacey Smith went 3-for-3 with two RBI, while Briley Davis went 3-for-4 at the plate. Emma Hughes and Mallory Lamb added two RBI apiece.

South Greene 7, Happy Valley 1
The Lady Warriors were unable to hold off South Greene on Tuesday.

Happy Valley was the first on the board with a run in the bottom of the first. South Greene, however, used a methodical attack to pull away for the win.

Alex Moore went 2-for-3 at the plate for HV, while Aleah Grindstaff added a triple. Makayla Miller, Natalie Cline, Mckenzie Skeens, and Trinity Bowers each added a hit.
