Tullahoma High School men’s soccer team played at Central Magnet Friday and tied 1-1, moving to 1-1-1 in district play and 3-3-1 overall.
The Wildcats had a slow start to the game, but got things going about nine minutes in. That is when the ‘Cats had their first good chance to score. The goal was scored midway in. Leading up to the goal, Tullahoma made six passes in a row. Then Jude Smith beat a defender and crossed the ball to Gage Allen. Allen put the ball into the net for Tullahoma to go up 1-0. The start of the second half went well for the ‘Cats, but the constant pressure from the older Tigers finally got to Tullahoma. They scored with 13 minutes left forcing the tie.
The JV ‘Cats lost 3-1, Omar Garcia scored the goal for Tullahoma on a penalty kick.
Tullahoma coach Richie Chadwick thought the team did a good job getting their minds right going into the game coming off of a pair of loses and bad weather forcing a rain-out. The Wildcats have had six matcher either postponed or cancelled already this season, making it hard for the younger team to really get in a rhythm.
Senior Juan Astello has led the team in points so far with 10. He has five goals which leads the team. Jayden Sarabia has nine points with three goals and three assists. Allen is third in points with three goals. Taiten Brunelle has four points, one goal and two assists. Kaiden Grau and Jack Hill have the other two goals for Tullahoma for two points each on the season. Chase Dodson, Charlie Dodson and Smith each have one point because of an assist so far. Goalkeeper Daniel Eldridge had made 18 saves so far this season.
The Wildcats are having a “Kick Cancer” night Thursday when they host LEAD Academy. The event is to help benefit a local non-profit, “Multi-County Cancer Support Network”. The game will start at 5:30 p.m. Then next Tuesday is senior night for the ‘Cats, they will take on Wilson Central.
