There was no lack of offensive power in Gray on Tuesday night as Daniel Boone lit up the scoreboard and walked off of Clarence Mabe Field after just five innings to secure the program's first conference title.

With a five-run first inning - thanks to one of two three-run blasts from junior, and Tennessee Vols commit, Graham Jones - the Trailblazers never looked back.

Boone would eventually build a nine-run lead into the bottom of the fifth - putting a cap on the game as Slader Tinker crossed home plate on a passed ball to seal a very special win 12-2.

"Obviously, it's a big deal. It's a big deal for any of us to win a conference title and since this was the first one, that makes it a little extra special for these guys. They knew what was ahead of them today," said head coach Scott Hagy. "This is a special group of kids that we got here. We'll keep battling and moving forward because we know the district tournament is going to be a dog fight."

The win gave the Trailblazers the outright District 1 4A title in a race over Dobyns-Bennett and Science Hill - setting up the district tournament to come shortly.

As for the players, it was one special night to celebrate such a feat - ending in a gatorade bath for their head coach.

“It’s special to all of us. I know it’s special to me,” Blankenship said. “We’ve put up four banners since I’ve been here, two in football, one in basketball and this one.”
