Tuesday Round-up: Lady Ranger Rally Falls Short; Lady ‘Landers, Cyclones Pick Up District Wins

North Greene 9, Unaka 4
The Lady Rangers saw a late rally come up short in district play Tuesday evening.

After North Greene plated a single run in the visiting side of the first, neither team was able to get on the board until the top of the fifth when the Lady Huskies plated three runs.

Unaka, however, battled back with a run of their own with a Mattie Saylor home run in the bottom of the fifth, and the Lady Rangers were able to tie the game with three runs in the home side of the sixth.

The Lady Huskies answered in the top of the seventh with five runs to take the win.

Haley Taylor and Kaitlyn Dugger each had two hits, while Mollie Buckles recorded two RBI. Jill Faust and Salyer had a hit and a RBI apiece. Gracie Stout also added a hit.

Hannah Brooks led North Greene as she went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Cloudland 14, University High 0
The Lady ‘Landers slowly pulled away on Tuesday night.

Cloudland plated two runs in the first and second and added four more in the third to take an 8-0 lead. The Lady ‘Landers left no doubt in the bottom of the fourth with six runs to secure the win.

Izabella Christman led CHS as she went 2-for-3 with four RBI, while Saharra McKinney was 2-for-2 with three RBI.

Eowyn McCoury recorded three RBI. Caroline Shell and Peyton Preswood tallied a hit and an RBI with Reagan Turbyfill and Savannah McCoury each adding a hit.

In the pitching circle, Ryan Turbyfill and Rea. Turbyfill combined for seven strikeouts and two hits.

David Crockett 5, Elizabethton 3
The Lady Cyclones came up short Tuesday evening.

The Lady Pioneers opened the game with a single run in the bottom of the first, but EHS was able to tie things up at 1-1 in the top of the third. Crockett, however, plated two runs in the third and two more in the fourth to take a 5-2 lead into the fifth.

Elizabethton continued to battle as they were able to get the tying run to the plate but the Lady Cyclones were unable to complete the rally.

Grace Whaley went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Lilly McDuffie, Sadie Williams, Emma O’Quinn, and Mollie Johnson each had a hit.

Johnson County 17, Hampton 1
Hampton was unable to keep pace with the Johnson County bats on Tuesday.

Hampton opened the scoring as Maleah Scalf scored off a Mallory Lamb single. However, the Lady Longhorns answered with two runs in the home side of the frame and methodically pulled away for the win.

Lamb finished with a hit and an RBI, while Scalf tallied a hit for Hampton.

Baseball
Elizabethton 6, Sullivan East 2
The Cyclones jumped out early and held on for the win Tuesday night.

Elizabethton plated the first two runs of the night in the bottom of the first, but East was able to answer in the top of the second with two of their own.

The Cyclones, however, regained the lead in the bottom of the third and never looked back to secure the win.

On the mound, Jackson Buckles allowed two unearned runs on four hits and struck out 11 batters in a complete game effort.

Justin Whitehead and Rhett Slagle each had two hits and an RBI, while Steven Meadows, Bryson Buckles, Logan Campbell, Jeriah Griffin, and Jack Blevins each recorded a hit.
