The Franklin County Rebels lost to the Lawrence County Wildcats 17-0 at home Tuesday for their 14th loss of the season.
An 11-run second inning from the Wildcats put the Rebels in a deep hole that they couldn’t work out of as they took their third straight defeat.
The Wildcats got off to a fast start offensively as they scored five runs in the top of the first with all of the scoring coming with two outs in the frame.
The Wildcats had their first nine batters reach base in the top of the second as they scored 11 total runs in the frame to push the early deficit up to 16-0.
The Rebels loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the second as Gus Gardner and Caden Brown drew walks and Jacob Hardison got hit by a pitch, but a fly out and a lineout ended the inning with all three runners stranded.
The Rebels got their first hit of the day on a single by Boston Benson to lead off the bottom of the fourth, and he later advanced to second on a wild pitch, but the inning came to an end before he could move up any further.
The Wildcats got their final run of the day in the top of the fifth with a two-out RBI single making it a 17-0 game.
The Rebels created a few baserunners in the bottom of the fifth with Casen Gilliam singling and Brayden Henley drawing a walk, but they weren’t able to bring them around to score as they lost by 17.
Josiah Cullins pitched one inning for the Rebels with seven hits, two walks, eight earned runs and one unearned run allowed.
Graysen McNeese pitched to two batters out of the bullpen and had one walk issued and two runs allowed, and Henley pitched to three batters with two walks issued, one hit allowed and three runs allowed.
Keylen Partin pitched an inning in relief with two hits and two runs allowed, and Benson pitched two shutout innings with three strikeouts recorded, one walk issued and no hits allowed.
Noah Knapper pitched the final inning for the Rebels with two strikeouts, three hits, one walk and one run allowed.
With the loss, the Rebels moved to 9-14 on the season and 5-4 in district play.
They will next play Thursday at home against Tullahoma High School. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
