The Franklin County Rebelettes lost to the Giles County Lady Bobcats 9-0 at home Tuesday for their 16th loss of the season.
The Rebelettes fell behind by a large margin early and were limited to just one total hit for the day as they took a shutout loss in the district matchup.
The Lady Bobcats scored three runs each in the first, second and third innings with errors from the Rebelettes helping to extend each frame for Giles County.
The Rebelettes got their first baserunner in the bottom of the third when Natalie Hagood drew a two-out walk, but the next batter popped out to end the inning.
Jocilyn DeSmet reached base on an error with one out in the bottom of the fifth. However, she wouldn’t be able to advance past first base before a strikeout and a groundout ended the frame.
The lone hit of the day for Franklin County came in the bottom of the sixth on a two-out single by Paislie Edge before an inning-ending groundout once again kept the Rebelettes from putting a runner in scoring position.
The Rebelettes were retired in order in the bottom of the seventh as they lost by nine.
Dalayna Marshall pitched the first three innings for the Rebelettes with one strikeout, three hits, seven walks, one earned run and eight unearned runs allowed.
Kaylee Morris pitched the remaining four innings in relief with one strikeout, one hit, one walk and no runs allowed.
With the loss, the Rebelettes moved to 6-16 on the season and 2-4 in district play.
They will next play Wednesday at Marshall County High School. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
