The Huntland High School Lady Hornets beat the Grundy County Lady Jackets 12-0 on the road Thursday for their seventh win of the season.
The Lady Hornets jumped out to a big early lead and were able to wrap up the contest in four innings to move their record for the year back above .500.
The Lady Hornets were able to score a trio of runs in the top of the first as an RBI single from Hadley Gardner, an RBI groundout from Blair Finchum and an RBI single from Camerin Davis quickly made it a 3-0 game.
The Lady Hornets added to the lead further with five runs scoring in the top of the second to boost their advantage up to 8-0. Jocy May hit a two-run single, Finchum contributed an RBI single and Lily Jackson added a two-run single of her own to provide the scoring for the frame.
The early deficit would be brought up to double digits in the top of the third as Bailey Morris hit an RBI double, May hit into an RBI groundout and Peyton Counts drove a ball down the right-field line for a two-run, inside-the-park home run to give Huntland a 12-0 advantage.
The Lady Jackets weren’t able to push any runs across in the next two innings as the Lady Hornets won by 12.

They will next play Monday at South Pittsburg High School. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
