The Tullahoma High School baseball team took down Marshall County 4-1 Tuesday night to claim the regular season title for AAA District 8.
The ‘Cats are followed that up with a 9-3 win at Franklin County in 13 innings. They are now 24-6 overall on the season and 9-1 in district play. The Wildcats are on an 11-game win streak.
Tullahoma held the Tigers to just three hits in their win to claim the district regular season title. Baylan Tuten started on the mound for the ‘Cats. He went three innings. He allowed two hits, walked four batters and struck out four. The only Marshall County run scored while he was in the game, but the run was unearned. Mason Bratcher finished the game pitching going the last four innings. He struck out seven batters, walked three and allowed just one hit.
The Wildcats had eight team hits, Evan Tomlin led the way with two hits including a double. Andrew Fulmer, Jayron Morris, Colton Emory, Phillip Lemmon, Hunter Hogan and Bratcher had a hit each. Lemmon also drew the only free pass for Tullahoma. Emory, Bratcher and Lemmon had the three team RBI.
The game at Franklin County was tied 2-2 from the bottom of the fifth until the top of the thirteenth inning where Tullahoma added seven runs. Batcher singled to open the innings and then Hogan bunted him to second. Lemmon smacked a ball to left field for an RBI double. Then Trevor Cole and Fulmer hit back-to-back singles that made it 4-2 with only one out. Tuten walked to load the bases with two outs. Tomlin took a four pitch walk with the bases load to make it 5-2. Emory cleared the bases with a double to center field, then Bratcher singled to bring in Cade Fanning, the courtesy runner for Emory, making it 9-2. The Rebels loaded the bases with one out, but were only able to score one before the Wildcats got the next two outs.
The ‘Cats racked up 17 hits in the contest to Franklin County’s eight. Six different Tullahoma batters had multiple hits. Morris and Tuten led the way with three hits each. Tuten hit a triple for one of his base knocks. Fulmer, Emory, Bratcher and Hogan had the other multiple hit games with two hits each. Lemmon, Tomlin and Cole had the other three hits. Lemmon and Emory had doubles. Tullahoma also took five walks. Tuten, Tomlin, Emory, Hogan and Cole drew them.
Morris started on the bump for Tullahoma and went five innings, allowing three hits. He struck out six and walked three. Hogan relieved Morris in the sixth and went five innings. He struck out eight batters, walked three and allowed three hits. Ben Quick pitched the last three innings of the game. He struck out seven batters, walked two and allowed two hits.
