The Bradley Central tennis teams closed out their regular season Tuesday by hosting crosstown rivals Cleveland.
The Bears came away with an impressive 9-0 win and finished the regular season with a 13-3 record.
"The boys played extremely well tonight from top to bottom, they were totally locked in," proclaimed Bradley head coach Franklin Elrod.
"It was Senior night and we were celebrating our lone senior Preston Henderson, he has been an amazing leader and mentor for our program this year.
Bradley got singles wins from Britton Carter 8-1, over Arjun Patel; Preston Henderson 8-1 over Alukh Patel; Parker White 8-2 over Adi Patel; Hunter Fields 8-2 over Noah Hogan; Micah Lee 8-3 over Henry Hogan; and Bryson Stinnett 8-4 over Anderson Ritzharp.
The also got doubles wins from Henderson and Fields by an 8-5 tally over Arjun and Alukh Patel; Carter and White 8-2 over Ritzharp and Henry Hogan; plus Lee and Stinnett 8-4 over Adi Patel and Noah Hogan.
"This was one of, if not the best team performance this season," assessed Coach Elrod. "Cleveland has a very good team and to come out and play this well was very encouraging for our program."
Cleveland captured the girls match by an 8-1 tally.
The Lady Raiders notched singles wins with Carolina Condo stopping Carley Horning 8-3; plus 8-0 shutouts from Addison Brock, Ava Adams and Abby Kitterman.
L'Angel Cook had the lone Bearette win, taking a hard-fought No. 1 singles 8-6 over Lauren Pitts.
“Proud of L’Angel for fighting so hard in her match," Coach Elrod declared. "She is playing more consistent lately."
Cleveland swept the girls doubles with Pitts/Brock winning 8-4, Adams/Condo winning 8-2 and Kitterman/Maggie taking an 8-1 victory.
The District 5 Individual Tournament will be held Friday at the Champions Club, in Chattanooga.
"Hoping to take some momentum into the tournament and make a little noise," Coach Elrod stated.
The Bears also notched big victories over Soddy-Daisy (8-1) and Rhea County (9-0) in the last few days.
Against the Trojans, Bradley got singles wins from Carter 8-6, White 8-1, Fields 8-0, Lee 8-2 and Stinnett 8-0.
As well as doubles wins from Henderson/Fields 8-6, Carter/White 8-4 and Lee/Stinnett 8-2.
Verses Rhea Monday, the shutout included singles wins from Carter 8-2, Henderson 8-0, White 9-8 (9-7), Fields 8-1, Lee 8-0 and Stinnett 8-0.
Doubles wins from Henderson/Fields 8-1, Carter/White 8-4 and Lee/Stinnett 8-0.
"Two good solid performances from the boys after coming off a very disappointing loss (to district champ Walker Valley) last week," remarked Coach Elrod. "Parker put together a nice comeback win against Rhea after falling behind early 3-6."
The Bearettes fell to the Lady Eagles 8-1, with Cook once again providing the lone win by an 8-2 tally.
"Girls got a nice win from L'Angel against Rhea," the coach proclaimed "She played much more consistent and the results were good.
"She's a good player and leader for our ladies. Score doesn't show it but we played much better in the girls match against Rhea. Won several games and played a lot of long points. Was very encouraging," he added.
The Bradley girls were shutout 9-0 by Soddy-Daisy.
