The Henry County High School Lady Patriots are in the midst of a busy two-week period as they head down the stretch of the regular season.

The Lady Patriots have a doubleheader scheduled today as they host Huntingdon at 4:15 p.m. and Camden at 6 p.m.

Henry County will then finish its regular season at 5 p.m. Friday as they visit Stewart County for a doubleheader with the Lady Rebels.

HCHS was in action in a non-district matchup against a tough Clarksville High School team on April 23 in Clarksville, and the Lady Pats lost, 7-5,  on a two-run walk-off home run by Clarksville’s Carlie Sheets in the bottom of the seventh.

Andie Barrett had two homers in that game for Henry County.

HCHS lost despite piling up 15 hits in the game. Reed Jackson and Irelynn Beecham each had three hits apiece.

BIG RED TAKES WIN AT WEST CREEK

Henry County bounced back well on April 25 when they took a 12-1 win at West Creek.

The Lady Patriots jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first on RBI doubles by Layne Latimer and Jackson and an RBI triple by Jocelyn Lee.

Latimer later homered for HCHS. The contest ended after five innings on the run rule.

Beecham got the win on the mound, pitching 4 2/3 innings, striking out nine and allowing only two hits and a run.

Henry County was scheduled to host Creek Wood in a non-district game on Monday, that game, however, was rained out.

Wednesday was to be a big day for HCHS. A home game against West Creek at 5 p.m. was designated as Senior Night for the Lady Patriots, with seniors being recognized prior to the game.

The Lady Patriots carried a 20-4 overall record into this week. They lead District 13-4A by a wide margin, holding a 7-0 district mark at the beginning of the week.

The district tournament is scheduled from May 7-10.

The majority of last year’s Region 7-AAA and District 14-AAA championship team returns for another postseason run. Emma Thompson was the only senior on last year’s team.

That squad also navigated through the sectional tournament and made a run at a state title in Murfreesboro, winning one game against the 2022 state champion Knoxville Faragut team before being eliminated.

One more week remains before another postseason run begins for the Lady Pats.
