Stormy spring weather notwithstanding, this should be an exciting week for Henry County High School softball.

The Lady Patriots began play in the District 14-4A tournament on Monday, beating West Creek, 27-0, in a three-inning game.

However, weather has played a factor in the tournament already, and all games on Tuesday and Wednesday were called off.

That pushed the Lady Patriots’ next game to 6 tonight against the winner of the Dickson County-Clarksville Northwest game that will be played at 4 p.m. today.

Both those games, as well as all remaining games in the tournament, will be at HCHS.

Pending any more postponements, the tournament should be wrapped up by Friday night.

In Monday’s game, Henry County’s Reed Jackson drove in six runs on three hits, including a two-run homer in the first inning off the top of the scoreboard.

The Lady Pats put up 22 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Meanwhile, Lilly Steele was pitching a one-hitter for Henry County on the mound.

The game was ended on the run rule after West Creek batted in the top of the third inning.

The Lady Patriots are 21-4-1 on the season. The one tie came against Huntingdon in a 2-2 game on May 2.

HCHS won its other two games during the last week of the regular season. They beat West Creek, 16-0, on Senior Night for the Big Red on May 1 and downed Camden, 5-4, on May 2. Both the Huntingdon and Camden games were home games for the Lady Patriots.
