On Thursday night, the CCCHS Lady Raiders beat Columbia 10-5 in the 4A District 9 Semifinals, but lost in the District Championship Game to the host Lincoln County Lady Falcons.
Coffee County: 10, Columbia Central: 5
In the District Semifinals, the Lady Raiders were pitted against the Columbia Central Lady Lions.
The Lady Raiders would set the pace in the early going, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning with Willow Carden scoring on a double by Paisley Campbell, Kara Wheeler and Savannah Cooper scoring on a single by Jalyn Moran and then Moran would score along with Channah Gannon on a line drive double by Ella Arnold to give Coffee County a 5-0 lead.
Coffee County would score another five runs in the bottom of the third inning, including a three-run homer by Willow Carden to make the score 10-0.
Columbia would try to chip away in the final stages, scoring one run in each the fifth and sixth innings and three runs in the top of the seventh, but the Lady Raiders held on for a 10-5 win and a spot in the District Championship Game.
For the Lady Raiders, Willow Carden had a total of two hits and three RBIs, Channah Gannon had two hits and one RBI, Jalyn Moran and Ella Arnold each had one hit and two RBIs, Paisley Campbell had one hit and one RBI and Maggie Montgomery, Savannah Cooper, Riley Phillips, Madison Pruitt and Chesnie Cox each had one hit apiece.
Lily Norman would earn the win in the circle, pitching all seven innings, allowing five runs on 10 hits, striking out seven batters and walking one on 113 pitches.
Coffee County: 3, Lincoln County: 13
In the District Championship Game, the Lady Raiders faced Lincoln County in a rematch of the winner’s bracket final on Monday, May 6.
After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Falcons jumped to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.
The Lady Raiders would get on the board in the top of the third inning with a Willow Carden solo home run, but Lincoln County answered with two more runs in the bottom of the third to make the score 5-1.
Coffee County scored twice in the top of the fourth inning to trim the Lincoln County lead to 5-3, but the Lady Falcons erupted for six runs in the bottom of the inning to take a commanding, 11-3 lead.
Lincoln County would score two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and win the game in a 13-3 mercy rule.
For Coffee County, Willow Carden and Ella Arnold each had one hit and one RBI and Maggie Montgomery, Savannah Cooper and Channah Gannon each had one hit.
Haleigh Skipper would take the loss in the circle, pitching three innings, allowing five runs on seven hits, striking out three batters and walking one on 60 pitches. Katelyn Anderson and Yeidy Cruz each made a relief appearance.
The Lady Raiders will continue the postseason in the Region Semifinals on Monday, May 13.
