CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – On Thursday, May 9, a pair of Clarksville-area boys’ soccer teams came away with 2023-24 district championship victories. In District 13-3A and District 14-3A, the Clarksville High Wildcats and West Creek High Coyotes both won their district championship matchups by a score of 1-0.

In the Wildcats case, they defeated the Rossview High Hawks to become district champions. Following the game, CHS head coach Austin Carey described the victory as spectacular and said this is the program’s first district championship in around 6 years.

“It’s been a long time and this group of seniors, when I started coaching them as freshmen, said they want to win the district tournament, the regional tournament and go on to win state,” Carey said. “Coach Sullivan and I are both incredibly proud of the team.”

As for West Creek High, the Coyotes outlasted the Northwest Vikings in double overtime to clinch their first district championship since 2014, according to previous reports. West Creek head coach Craig Nakutis told Clarksville Now that this moment was a big step forward for their program.

“It’s a big step forward for the school, the program and for men’s soccer in general,” Nakutis said. “I’m very proud of them. I’ve just been telling them all year long, and ever since I got to West Creek, you just have to believe in yourself, and you can win.”

With their victories, Clarksville High is scheduled to face Northwest High on Monday, May 13, as regional play begins. On the flip side, West Creek will face Rossview on Monday as well, according to Max Preps.
