WALKER VALLEY claimed its first-ever District 5-4A Soccer Championship Friday with a 2-2 (11-10) victory over host Cleveland, at Benny Monroe Stadium.

Walker Valley won its first-ever District 5-4A Soccer Championship in dramatic style, having to go to 11 rounds of penalty kicks to claim the crown over host Cleveland Friday.
The 2-2 (11-10) tally allows the Mustangs (11-8) to host a Region 3 opener Tuesday with District 6 runner-up East Hamilton (5-7) will visit "The Corral" with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
The Hurricanes claimed a hard-fought 2-1 win when the teams played during the regular season.
The Blue Raiders (9-7-1) will travel to Chattanooga the same evening to square off with District 6 champ Howard (11-2-1), looking for a spot in Thursday's title match, as well as Saturday's TSSAA Sectional playoffs.
The Hustlin' Tigers shutout the Hurricanes 2-0 in the District 6 final.
After Cleveland nipped Walker Valley 2-1 during the regular season to take the top-seed in the district tournament, the high noon showdown at Benny Monroe Stadium was even closer.
The host Raiders opened the scoring just two minutes after kickoff off of a direct free kick.
Walker didn't score until the 77th minute when junior Alex Lakatosh lifted a back post cross to senior Graham Delmotte, who used a one-touch finished it into goal.
After the first overtime period was scoreless, the second saw each team dent the nylon once.
In the 99th minute of the game, the Raiders found a way to score even being down a man, due to a red card earlier in the match.
However, the Mustangs found a way to fight back again just before the end of second extra period when senior Jake Arntz took a feed from Braden Hargraves.
From there the title match went into a penalty-kick shootouts.
With Cleveland winning the coin toss, they elected to shoot first. Finally, after all 10 shooters for both teams made all of their goals, it was sophomore goalkeeper Jason Osorio who blocked the 11th PK for Cleveland.
At this point, if WV could score their next PK then they would win.
It was senior Isai Dietz who volunteered to take the next kick. With his teammates' support he stepped to the PK spot and found the back of the net.
The Walker Valley defense only allowed Cleveland eight shots on goal, with just four on target, with Osoria making two saves during regular play.
The Mustang offense peppered the Raider goalie with 19 shots on goal, with 11 on target, but could only squeeze two through.
