With two decades of experience teaching in independent schools, Mahler brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role as a physics teacher and head cross country coach at St. Andrew’s - Sewanee School. "Mahler's journey in academics and sports began during his time as a Division I athlete at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he excelled in cross-country and track. His background as a collegiate athlete instilled in him a deep appreciation for discipline, perseverance, and teamwork, qualities he now instills in his students and athletes.
"As a physics teacher, Mahler is committed to fostering student success through evidence-based inquiry pedagogy, particularly through the implementation of Modeling techniques. By encouraging students to explore concepts through hands-on experimentation and problem-solving, Mahler cultivates a deeper understanding of physics principles. Innovative technologies play a crucial role in Mahler's teaching approach, as he integrates them seamlessly into his lessons to enhance learning experiences. He embraces individualized instruction, recognizing the diverse needs and learning styles of his students, and tailors his approach to ensure each student reaches their full potential.
"Communication is key in Mahler's educational philosophy, and he maintains open and transparent dialogue with parents to keep them informed and involved in their child's academic journey. By fostering a collaborative partnership between students, parents, and faculty, Mahler creates a supportive learning environment where students thrive both academically and athletically."
