Golden Eagles’ Carston Williams Signs With Millsaps College

Posted

Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles Baseball’s Carston Williams signed with Millsaps College on Monday to continue his baseball career at the next level.

Williams was an important piece to the team that went on a sub-state run his junior season under head coach Chase Jones, coming up just one win short of the state tournament.

This year, the two-way star led qualified SCHS batters with a .391 batting average, and had the second-best ERA on the team at 1.70. On the mound, Williams struck out 55 batters in his 11 appearances, and only gave up eight earned runs on 31 hits. He walked just 17 hitters all season and did not give up a single home run.

At the plate, Williams slashed an impressive .391/.537/.597 with a 1.135 OPS – second to only Nick Johnson – while driving in 26 runs and drawing 21 free passes. He slugged a team-high 13 doubles and tacked on a pair of home runs as well.

Williams has had Millsaps College at the top of his list since the fall, and once he officially was at peace with his decision, signed with the Majors, a high-level academic Division III school in Jackson, MS.
