The Huntland High School Lady Hornets beat the Grundy County Lady Jackets 10-6 at home Friday for their fourth win of the season.
All of the scoring for the game was done in the first four innings as the Lady Hornets pulled ahead midway through the contest and remained in front the rest of the way.
The Lady Hornets initially took the lead in the bottom of the first as Catara Johnson hit an RBI single and Lily Jackson contributed an RBI double before later scoring on a passed ball to give them a 3-0 advantage.
However, the Lady Jackets had a three-run frame of their own in the top of the second to tie the score, and they recorded an inside-the-park home run in the top of the third to take a 4-3 lead over Huntland.
The back-and-forth action continued in the bottom of the third as RBI singles from Kinah Mason and Analyn Riddle and a sacrifice fly off the bat of Peyton Counts drove in one run each to put the Lady Hornets in front by a 6-4 margin.
The Lady Jackets pushed two more runs across in the top of the fourth to tie the score once more at 6-6.
The last runs of the contest were scored in the bottom of the fourth as Jackson hit a two-run single to break the tie, and Jackson and Emily Stewart both came around to score off of an error on a ball hit by Counts to give the Lady Hornets a 10-6 lead.
The Lady Jackets were held scoreless through the last three innings as the Lady Hornets won by four.
Riddle pitched the first four innings for the Lady Hornets with four strikeouts, five hits, two walks, five earned runs and one unearned run allowed in the victory.
Mason recorded a save in relief with three innings pitched, five strikeouts, one hit, one walk and no runs allowed.
With the win, the Lady Hornets improved to 4-3 on the season.
They will next play Monday at South Pittsburg High School. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
